Layering the Bass Drum

The drum grooves in this funk drum lesson are based on linear patterns but are not strictly linear. The bass drum is "layered" underneath the other voices. This is how linear grooves tend to be applied in practice. The funk grooves combine ideas covered in the previous linear drumming lessons.
