Beginner Jazz Drumming

This jazz drum lesson introduces the basic jazz beat with some simple comping on the snare drum and bass drum. Always ensure that notes written together are played exactly at the same time and pay attention to the balance between different voices. The hi-hat, played with your foot, should sound loud and crisp. The ride cymbal and hi hat are played slightly louder than the snare drum and bass drum. Make sure that the swung off-beat eighth notes land exactly on their triplet sub-division.
